The apex court is scheduled to pronounce the verdict in the highly sensitive case of Ram Janmbhoomi-Babri Masjid land dispute on Saturday at 10:30 am. A five-judge Constitution bench, headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi, had reserved the judgment on October 16 after a marathon hearing of 40 days. The dispute went to the SC after a lot of efforts to solve the issue outside the court-room went into vain. Many attempts to solve the matter through mediation could not yield any fruit too.
The Supreme Court had then heard the arguments of both the parties for 40 days till OCT 16, 2019.
All the state governments are on High alerts and section 144 has been imposed. Railway Protection Force is also on alert. All the political leaders have appealed for peace.
Earlier, Chief Justice of India (CJI) Ranjan Gogoi on Friday called up Uttar Pradesh chief secretary and the director general of police (DGP) to discuss the state’s preparedness in the wake of Supreme Court verdict on the Ram Temple issue. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also held a late-night video conference with the state’s top civil and police officials, divisional commissioners, and district magistrates.
Two helicopters are also deployed as a standby as a part of the security arrangements. 4000 armed personnel are dispatched to Ayodhya ahead of the verdict. 30 bomb disposal squads are also deployed. Adityanath warned that strict action will be taken against anyone trying to disturb the law and order. The apex court is likely to deliver its verdict on the Ayodhya title suit tomorrow.
