Lockdown extended till 3rd May: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the extension of the countrywide lockdown till 3rd May in his fourth address to the nation. He further said that the lockdown will be implemented more strictly till 20th April. States that do not let any new hotspot after 20th April would be allowed to resume some of the activities in a controlled manner.

PM Modi ensured that there is enough ration and stock of essential commodities in the country. He also informed that the government would issue detailed guidelines to be followed during the lockdown period.

“While making new guidelines, we have kept in mind the interests of the poor and daily wage workers. Harvesting of Rabi crops is also underway. Central Govt and state Govts are working together to ensure that farmers face minimal problems”- said PM Modi

Covid-19 testing is being done in over 220 labs. According to the world’s experience of tackling COVID-19, 1500-1600 beds are needed when cases reach 10,000. We have over 1 lakh beds in India & over 600 hospitals for treating COVID patients. We’re expanding this facilities.- He further said

PM Modi also appreciated the citizens of India for their support in the fight against Covid-19. “People have gone through hardships to save India. I know how many difficulties you faced. I respectfully bow to the people of India for their sacrifice” said PM Narendra Modi

PM Modi urged citizens to follow the seven guidelines till 3rd May.

  1. Take care of elders especially the ones who have existing ailments 
  2. Follow social distancing
  3. Use homemade masks

  5. Help poor families, provide them food
  6. Be empathetic towards your workers and employees. Do not end their employment.
  7. Corona warriors like doctors, nurses, sanitation workers should be respected
